One Winter

Following Airlie Jane Anderson over three winter months in the traditional Slackjaw stylee, this film sets out to try and find out what makes her tick. Travelling to Colorado, the Alps, the popular end of Stanage and the scrapyard on London Road, Airlie reveals herself to be great company and a little mellower than many perceive. The film offers more warmth and humour than it’s icy surrounds suggest, giving Airlie’s overall take on life, the pet names she has for her ice tools and some brilliant ice climbing sequences to boot.

Airlie’s companions for much of the film are British Climbing Champ Lucy Creamer and Alpine menace Andy Parkin. Both put in amazing ascents themselves, Andy’s ascent of a new route in the Alps probably amounting to the most terrifying, drawn-out filming experience we’ve ever had – starting with Ben falling into a crevasse!
